Nation of Language Deliver A Passionate Performance At Lafayette London

Coming to London as part of their UK tour, Brooklyn natives Nation of Language went on stage at The Lafayette in King’s Cross with an eruption of energy. Lead vocalist Ian Richard Devaney danced around the stage almost as if in rage, belting out vocals to an enthused audience. It was clear that Nation of Language has a dedicated fan base ready to enjoy a sold-out show.
Made up of bandmates Ian Richard Devaney on lead vocals, guitar, synthesizer, and percussion, Aidan Noell on synthesizer and backing vocals, and Michael Sue-Poi on bass guitar, Nation of Language have garnered much attention since the release of their second EP A Way Forward. It was easy to see why Nation of Language has had such a spotlight on them, as they played incredibly and passionately. Their sound washed out over the crowd like a wave. It was hard to notice the lack of a drummer as the band had such a full sound, which relied heavily on synths; however, once I did notice, I began to realize that their sound would have been even better with a complete rhythm section.
Overall, Nation of Language gave a great performance, which showcased their extreme talents as musicians. Though occasionally it felt as though their songs blended together sonically, they were an enjoyable act to watch and will only grow further as musicians and live performers as they release more albums down the line.
