On a Sunday evening in Knightsbridge there was a hum of excitement and anticipation from everyone surrounding the entrance. It was only natural, given that this was Genaro Rivas’ sixth consecutive fashion week. Rivas has always presented collections that were fresh and innovative and his recent collection ‘A Glass to Break’ was no exception.

The queue outside snaked around the corner, leaking onto the streets in colourful streams, all attendees buzzing in designer streetstyle - as if they could take on the catwalk at a moment’s notice if the opportunity struck. Fashion Scout’s AW26 edition of Ones to Watch was already announcing itself as the moment. Seven designers, and one runway that might decide the pressing future of the fashion industry.

It all began with a simple Instagram post. Last February, Tare Isaac — now settled in the industry as a member of the British Fashion Council — called for minority creators to join her project. A decade after launching her own label ‘Twin by Tare Isaac’, she created The Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN), a platform to support underrepresented creatives in fashion, shaped as a response to the challenge she herself faced as a British-Nigerian designer in the UK.

Jason Jermaine Asiedu is a Ghanaian fashion designer whose brand, JERMAINE BLEU, specialises in handwoven fabric garments that tell stories featuring family history and the uniqueness of African craftsmanship.

Fashion has a history of using design to explore what one may not be able to solely communicate through language. It holds a special platform for allowing culture to be distinguished and revered, especially when on a runway at London Fashion Week. Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN) has taken fashion’s ethos of expressing oneself and presented a space for minority designers to be given the opportunity to share their heritage and culture.

Joshua Ewusie, a London-born designer, who brings Ghanaian heritage into a sharp, contemporary focus. A recent Central Saint Martins MA graduate and current designer in residence at The Kings Foundation with CHANEL, Ewusie aims to transform the textures and traditions of West African craft into modern womenswear that celebrates community, culture, and a distinctly London sensibility.

Amid the buzz of London Fashion Week, INFDark SS26 lit up Protein Studios in Shoreditch with their Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The designer Wei Kuo reimagined the audacious eclecticism of the 1980s for a contemporary audience. Hannah Breen Gibbons and Niki Dribusch cover.
